The primary mission of the GSV Penn State Chapter is to offer financial aid in the form of scholarships to deserving area students attending The Pennsylvania State University.
Each year we offer a minimum of four (4) $1,000.00 Scholarships to incoming freshmen and four (4) Endowed Scholarships to students already enrolled at Penn State who have completed a minimum of 5 semesters. Check out the Scholarship Recipients since 1999.
$1,000 Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen
High School Seniors, already accepted and enrolled at a Penn State Campus including the Pennsylvania College of Technology, from the Mifflinburg, Lewisburg, Milton, Warrior Run, Shikellamy, Selinsgrove and Midd-West School Districts and SUN Area Technical Institute are eligible to apply for one of our incoming freshmen scholarships.
Successful applicants must:
- Complete our scholarship application
- Complete the questions on the application on why you want to attend Penn State and have a need for financial aid.
All recipients will be notified by August 1st of each year and are invited to attend our annual pig roast/awards picnic where they will receive their award.
Endowed Scholarship
Our annual Endowed Scholarship recipient(s) is chosen by the scholarship committee from academic and financial need lists provided by the University.
Any Penn State student, with a minimum of 5 semesters completed, from the Central Pennsylvania area served by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chapter is eligible to be awarded an Endowed Scholarship.
The scholarship committee uses the lists provided by the University to determine the student who attains the best academic performance while having the greatest financial need. That student is then awarded an Endowed Scholarship administered by the University.
History
Since our inception in 1981, the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chapter has awarded well over $150,000.00 in scholarship monies to deserving area students attending our beloved Pennsylvania State University. Through the efforts of our Chapter Officers, Board Members and member families, we hope to continue providing financial aid to Central Pennsylvania students for generations to come.
