The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the PENN STATE Alumni Association is cancelling its annual pig roast event this year because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The GSV chapter made the decision out of an abundance of caution and concern for area alumni and all pig roast guests and vendors. Held annually in New Berlin since 1980, the pig roast attracts hundreds of Penn State alumni and friends for a day of fun, food, and fellowship. Every year the event features appearances by the Nittany Lion mascot and Penn State cheerleaders.  The pig roast is the chapter's biggest annual fundraising event.  It helps support academic scholarships for area students attending Penn State, as well as the University's football season.

Stay home & stay safe!

The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association was chartered 40 years ago as an extension of the Penn State Alumni Association.  The primary mission of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chapter is to provide financial aid in the form of scholarships to area students attending Penn State.  Since our inception in 1978, our chapter has grown to over 1100 active members, has awarded well over to $150,000 in scholarship monies to incoming freshmen attending the Pennsylvania State University and started and grown an Endowed Scholarship fund to provide financial aid to upperclassmen already enrolled at Penn State.  Our signature fundraising event is our annual Pig Roast attended by our annual scholarship recipients, the Nittany Lion, The entire Penn State Cheerleading Squad, the Executive Director of the Penn State Alumni Association and hundreds of Penn State Alumni, supporters and fans.  Our chapter has been awarded several University sponsored Alumni Association awards.  The greater Susquehanna Valley Chapter received the 2006 Penn State Alumni Association Networking and Fellowship achievement award for an outstanding fellowship or networking program or event.  Our chapter also attained Chapter of Distinction status, awarded by the Penn State Alumni Association, on an annual basis since 2006.  In 2007 our chapter was awarded the first ever “Honorary Nittany Lion Mascot” award, presented by the Penn State Cheerleaders annually.

The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chapter is constantly striving to uphold and maintain the principles set forth by the Penn State Alumni Association.  We welcome anyone interested in becoming part of the great tradition of the Pennsylvania State University to join our Alumni Chapter.
